Paul Towers

Paul is a UK Graduate Chartered Accountant with 32 years’ post-qualification experience in risk financing, insurance and reinsurance, including captive insurance companies, pooling arrangements, finite risk and other mechanisms.

Paul also has founded MGA’s and is widely experienced in every aspect of these vehicles, including strategy, systems, accounting and their ultimate sale.

In addition to his UK experience, Paul spent eight years in Bermuda and two years in Asia working mainly with captive insurance companies and finite risk.

Paul has previously been approved by the UK Financial Conduct Authority in respect of various Controlled Functions in connection with his UK based businesses. He was also approved by the Central Bank of Ireland as UK Branch Manager of Partner Reinsurance Europe SE, and Irish subsidiary of the PartnerRe Group, and as a non-executive director of Deutsche Post Insurance Limited, an Irish subsidiary of the Deutsche Post DHL Group.

Career Highlights:

  1. Over 30 years relationship with Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL), including consultancy support to a Bermuda based DPDHL captive with US$200 million+ in annual premiums, and US$500 million+ in gross assets.
  2. Co-founder and CFO of Angel Underwriting Limited, a UK based Managing General Underwriter of Directors’ and Officers’ Liability and Professional Indemnity risks. The business was sold in 2010 to the Catlin Group.
  3. Co-founder and CFO of Vespasian Management Limited, a UK based Managing General Underwriter of Accident and Health risks. The business was sold in 2008 to the Presidio Group (subsequently acquired by PartnerRe).
  4. Current and previous company directorships include:
